16.- El Cartero felicita a Vd. las Pascuas / The postman Christmas congratulates you

Postcard published in 1920 on cream cardboard 140 x 96 mm. sepia ink printed on the front and blue on the back.

In the front is centered a picture of the Palacio de Comunicaciones in Madrid, had opened a few years earlier in 1909 (since 2007 is the new home of the Madrid City Council). This picture is surrounded by four seals 15, 25, 50 cts. and 1 peseta commemorating the VII Congress of the Universal Postal Union and where it appears the portrait of His Majesty Alfonso XIII and the post office (Palacio de Comunicaciones).

Also appearing on this front, the legend, artistically designed, "The Postman congratulates you on Easter."

The back is entirely dedicated to postal rates and conditions of the time, here you can see that while a letter of 25 grams cost 25 cents to cross it peseta, simple greeting card worth only 15 cents, hence its rapid spread to give short notice, but as I said, soon became an object of collecting for his belelza and variety.

This specimen was not intended to be mailed to the lack of space to indicate the recipient's address because it was done to be given away by carriers in hand to the various people who brought them to the correspondence and ask the same year-end bonus (tip that was given to letter carriers, sweepers, watchmen, local police ... in the Christmas season).
