118.- Fiesta en el norte junto a la ermita (1932) The party in the north next to the chapel (1932)

"Sra. Dña Mercedes E. Vda. de Guezala
Mercedillas muy querida:
El diagnóstico cabal
de esas tus melancolías
es por contemplarse mucho
y hacer caso a tonterías.

Si he de decirte verdad
pues sino no lo diría
agrada a Dios este baile
más que esas tus boberías.

Haz eso sí cuanto puedas
por agradecer al Señor
mas después cierra la puerta
a tu recriminación.

Que sino Zaldívar tiene
algunos cuartos vacantes
y habrá que pensar muy pronto
de cogerte y de llevarte.

Merchechus no seas tonta

TRANSLATION with Google

Postcard printed with a color drawing of 140 x 85 mm with white edge 2 to 3 mm. The drawing depicts a country fair with folk dancing next to a shrine in northern Spain.

The back has no form so it does not identify the editor, not even marking the place for the label or address.

It is not flanked by what must be delivered by hand or in an envelope. There is a text that fills the back written in ink pen with elegant and mature point in the form of poetry that reads as follows:

"Ms. Mrs. Mercedes E. Vda.'s Guezala
Mercedillas beloved:
Thorough diagnosis
of these phone blues
is considered much
and heed nonsense.

To tell you truth
but would not say it
pleasing to God this dance
more than those your foolishness.

All you can do that themselves
by thanking the Lord
but after the door closes
your recrimination.

That it has Zaldívar
some rooms vacant
and we must think very soon
to catch you and take you.

Merchechus not be silly
that this life is leaving us
and if we in fact,
do we stay.

Of advice from whom much more you want and reminds you today.
Santander 10/29/1932 "

It seems the letter from a suitor to his friend's widow at which complains that exit and re-live his life and recalls with a dance-card will not hurt anyone and stop worrying about what other people say.

Pretty picture as a whole, both the text and the image, dated the 2 nd year of the Second Spanish Republic. The dance can be in rural areas of Santander and the Basque country, the names displayed are Basque but is dated in Santander.

116.- PARIS.- La Bastille, Colonne de Juillet. 1903

Google translation:

Postcard 90 x 140 mm with a broken corner that is printed with a photograph of Paris in black and white with the column of July (Colonne de Juillet) of 46 feet high topped by gilt bronze sculpture called "The Genius of Liberty" in the Place de la Bastille was built in the late eighteenth century, inspired by the Trajan column in Rome in the place he had occupied the Bastille prison.

The postcard is addressed to Pedro Miguel in Madrid (Spain), lacks the stamp (it has been removed) but it is legible postmark Bd entire St. Martin in Paris and dated October 13, 1903. at 20:45 hours. On the back is only the address of the recipient and not until 1906 that the division would be generalized into two areas, leaving the left for text, so the text would appear on the front above the picture.

The text written with pen and elegant fine print is on the lighter areas of the picture (sky) and partly crossed himself to write more and says:

"Dear parents, I guess I will have received the telegram, so we hope to Periquillo immediately. Do not fail to tell me the day I get to go to wait. Put a telegram to the Hotel Bergère: Rue Bergère 32 and 34 (and still there is a 3 star hotel). We are very satisfied with this great Paris when Periquillo see all this is going to be shocked and despite not having been before. Last night we went to bed very early (ten o'clock) because we were exhausted from walking. Our best wishes to all and for you a big hug your children that much you want. Ramón y Pepa. Paris 13-10-903."

The interpretations of the text is drawn from the reading of it, Periquillo should be a brother he writes and was reluctant to go to Paris. The purpose of the trip, which seems long, do not know.
