Google translation:

Postcards No. 4581 and 5099 of Edizione Engelberger - Stans, 210 x 150 mm, with color photographs of the Swiss city of Lugano is very close to Italy (we speak Italian) and influenced by it, at first there was a view of the city and Lake Lugano and Monte S. Salvatore cableway and the second four photographs of gardens and the lake of Lugano separated by a white strip of 1.5 mm thick in the center opens a small white rectangle on which suporpone the word "Lugano".

These cards have the edge slightly toothed, the photographs are laminated and the back can be read on the No. 4581 "procédé Mexichrome (Method Mexichrome), in place of the label specified in French to be overcome as a letter (for exceed the standard dimensions of a postcard).

In  No 5099, photographic process has changed and is shown in German "Ektachrome Farbaufnahme" (Ektachrome color photo), "Ektachrome" is a registered trademark and KODAK procedure. This card also indicates that you have to cross as a letter but has been printed in German, French and English.

It is curious that the first of the postcards have been used French and Italian languages (Lugano is in the Swiss whose official language is Italian) and the second, published subsequently, have been used German, French and English . Recall that the four languages of Switzerland are German, French, Italian and Romansch. While the postcard is from Lugano, canton situated in a border with Italy, the cards are issued in the town of Stans belonging to a canton in the center of Switzerland German-speaking .

These postcards were probably in the 50s. No writing, just bought and kept as a souvenir of the place.

92 y 93.- Amberes - Anvers - Antwerpen - Antwerp (1958)

English translation with Google:

Two postcards with the num F14 and F18 of the Belgian city of Antwerp in 211 x 90 mm.
Both are black and white photographs of this city, the first one of the square and Torengebouw Meir (skyscraper in Flemish) and an overview of the city on the other.

The two were bought in the skyscraper called Boerentoren (current building KBC), the first of the contemporary built in Europe and the Empire State of New York, but much more modest proportions, was completed in 1931 with 26 plants and 87.5 meters high. Your name Boerentoren (Tower of farmers Flament language) must be because it was apparently built by a cooperative of farmers.

In the photo is marked a small "x" drawn in pen to indicate the location of the viewpoint.
The second card can be seen a panoramic view of the city, highlighting the cathedral of Antwerp and the Scheldt River on its way through the city, this photograph was taken from the skyscraper Boerentoren shown in another photo.

The two cards were mailed on June 30, 1958 to a family who lived in Cadiz No. 28  Enrique de las Marinas street, street near the popular central Plaza de Mina. We have found that in 1930 was published in the bass of the number 26 of that same street (next door) the newspaper El Faro, but we do not know if you have any relationship with the recipients of these cards.

The short text is devoted to send congratulations.

One of the senders is called Theo Michael and another, apparently one of them a child of the S º Aguirra T. a Gomes and Flora Aguirre Rocamora. Both are stamped with two stamps BEF 1.5 with the effigy of King Baldwin I in military uniform.

The reverse has been left free to text 2 / 3 and the third right reserved for the address.

Printed on the place in front of the Flemish-language pictures superimposed on an angle to the image and back it is written the name but in French (the two languages of Belgium).

89, 90 y 91.- Tres fototipias de Cádiz enviadas en 1915, 1916 y 1917 - Three sent phototypes of Cadiz in 1915, 1916 and 1917

2ª:

Se sacaron fotografías y yo he salido bastante bien.”

Google translation:

Collection of three postcards that have in common the fact of having been used and sent by the same person, a medical student, and addressed to his girlfriend Gloria, the first is dated 1915, the second in 1916 and third in 1917 .

The three postcards are phototypes. The phototype was the procedure to reproduce photographic plates with the help of a gelatin layer spread on a sheet of glass or copper. On this sheet is stretched a photosensitive emulsion layer of gelatin bichromate, was baked for several hours after contact with the photographic negative was impressed that emulsion, gelatin is insoluble in the transparent portions so that the ink is absorbed more ease in these areas, they could not perform more than five hundred copies decaying gelatin in the process. Also called the art of stamping phototype these views and also the name given to the sheet printed by this procedure.

As mentioned, we have three phototypes, the 1st is number 856 of the collection edited Hauser and Menet in Madrid (reached the n º 2078) and represents the Plaza de la Constitución de Cádiz (now Plaza de San Antonio) with dimensions 140 x 90 mm (measured at the time legally established for postcards), it can be seen in the left side of the church of San Antonio and on the right side of the square where there are typically two of the watchtowers of Cadiz. The image is printed in one ink, black.

The 3rd is a reprint of the 1st which has altered the legend above the picture has been deleted "856 Hauser and Menet. - Madrid",appearing in the first, if stored "CÁDIZ PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN "and has also altered the whole sky without clouds, and leaving it blank. Dimension 138 x 87 mm specimen.

The 2nd phototype represents the Gran Teatro de Cádiz (now Gran Teatro Falla) whose works were completed in 1905 and which is adjacent to the Faculty of Medicine, although not shown in the picture, but it was the study site owner these postcards. He drew up a greeting card to indicate the path crosses take to get to that option. This second phototype not for the extensive collection of Hauser and Menet but the issue is Knackstedt and Näthan Hamburg (Germany) and the size of this specimen is 137 x 87 mm.

The reverse is similar in all three, is divided into two parts as had been regulated since December 1905 and the 1st and 2nd shows the legend POSTCARD, with dotted lines indicated the place to enter the address, although the three has been used throughout the space to write, so it is clear not only sent in a stamped envelope.

Although very interesting specimens, which has drawn most attention is the story of love or heartbreak that account through texts written in sepia pen, in the period of three years between the medical student in Cadiz and Glory girlfriend to know more details. Also worth noting are some expressions that are already archaic and obsolete. Then transcribe the writings of these three postcards:

1st:

"Cadiz November 24, 1915.

Unforgettable Gloria: I will answer your welcome I received yesterday at 10 ½ now. It seems that I do not do more than offend you in my letters as is clear from the opening paragraphs of yours and the truth that is not my intention, as you understand more and you should excuse me please and I repeat again that I do not harbor such evil purposes I attribute. I beg you to excuse me, because evil can you offend those who have big dreams.
I'll estarme that for 6 or 7 days before I spoke. I hope to get out there on the 26th and arrive by both 6-7 (if we're not late) afternoon. If I arrive at such an hour after dinner and wash up (and you know that you come and dirty grimy train) go to your house as soon ends to be by your side till the 11 or 10 ½.
2nd:
"Cadiz, May 17, 1916.
Gloria Unforgettable: Without referring to yours. The 14th letter I sent you and I guess in your power. This is to make you see again how much I love you and I always remember you. Today, because I have not had class party, I stay no longer than two to end these heavy tasks. I think I have done for 25 and if so I hope to go for that 27. I'll call you by phone. In this post you'll see the little crosses the road every day in going to college. In the bottom and right. I hope that your news because I do not think you can write does not prevent you to do.

I look that I do not snub it now more than ever I need your love and your stories.
It is the hope daily. I love you "

3rd

"Cadiz February 4, 1917.

Gloria Unforgettable: With no mention yours to grab the pen to let you know once again that, despite your forgetting, I still love you and I still forget a single moment. In the past 28 yours answered the 1st of this month, already answered your other 30 on day 2.

So therefore, I repeat, I have no letter from you to answer and therefore I must be brief.

Yesterday I sent you a newspaper review of it to the banquet that I spoke in my letter of two days. You will see my name among the attendees. They posed for photographs and I have gone pretty well."

Parte superior: AYUNTAMIENTO       PLAZA DE ISABEL II        MÍRESE AL TRANSPARENTE
Parte Inferior: CADIZ

Translation into English with Google:

Special postcard published between 1897 and 1900 by Paul Dümmatzen residing in Malaga and Hamburg. Having a dimension of 140 x 90 mm which was the standard of the time, the front has a color lithographed drawing of the Plaza de Isabel II (now Plaza de San Juan de Dios) in Cadiz where he appreciates the council, various houses and towers of the cathedral, in addition to the plaza where there are five lights, many people, a car of horses and a donkey.

Also at the front are printed the following legends:

Upper: CITY COUNCIL    PLAZA DE ISABEL II     TO CLEAR LOOK
Bottom: CADIZ

Bottom left: N91671 (suppose it is a serial number assigned by the editor)

Left side vertical: PABLO DÜMMATZEN MÁLAGA - HAMBURG

The back is printed the legend
UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION

UNIVERSELLE POSTAL UNION

SPAIN

On this side only the address is written.

It is indicated the place for stamp and three lines to set the direction. The cards began to be divided into two parts on the back from December of 1905, so sooner. This forced to write the message above the drawing or photograph of the front. In this issue does not appear any text manuscript. It is not circulated.

The curious thing about this postcard is concerning the phrase that appears in the top right of the obverse: "LOOK TO CLEAR" is a collection of postcards with pictures published in Malaga lithographically reproducing different cities with transparencies at light, in this case if the card is ordinarily shows the town hall square in Cadiz during the day, but if there is a strong light behind, we see the same scene but at night the square, where you see the lights in the windows and balconies, the moon, the light from the lamps or light circles that form under them. The first two pictures corresponding to these light conditions, being the same post.

D. Paul Dümmatzen, German origin, had installed first in Malaga (which produces these cards) keeping home or business in Hamburg and the two cities listed on the card, in 1903 found a personal ad in the newspaper ABC that says "250 assorted art postcards all in platinum, etc., 15 pesetas. Novelty, walnut frames thin cards, 4.50 pesetas a half dozen, free certificate. Dümmatzen, Barcelona, Assault, 7. " so in that time and had his home in Barcelona.

We find an ad in the newspaper La Vanguardia in Barcelona from December 8, 1912 that says "Postcards wholesale. Dümmatzen.P. ª Tetouan, 4" so you still in Barcelona but had moved.

Also in La Vanguardia on December 23 de1921 found reference to D. Paul Dümmatzen, as a member of the German colony in Barcelona, "donates 100 pesetas for the heroic Spanish soldiers fighting in Africa."
We continue to find ads from this publisher offering Christmas or 1st communion pictures throughout the 40s, 50s and 60s of the twentieth century in the same home in Barcelona.

And finally we have found the obituary of October 7, 1971, also in La Vanguardia says:

"Don Pablo Dümmatzen Mühlbach  widower of Emma Dümmatzen Hauke, died at age 93 da old, having received the Holy Sacraments and the Apostolic Blessing, (RIP)-His afflicted: nephews (present and absent) and other family (absent) to involve their friends and acquaintances as painful loss, I beg a memory in your prayers and served to attend the burial ceremony, which will take place today, day 7, at 10.30, in the parish church of San Oligario (street Naples No.. 133), where at the same time there will be a funeral mass, and then accompany the body to the cemetery in the Southwest. "Not particularly inviting."

Thus was born in 1878 and when published these postcards in Malaga had only 20 or 22 years.

Diaz Morales and Tornería" Jerez de la Frontera in Spain.

It is stamped and postmarked in the main post office in Frankfurt, on 12 October 1958. The postmark bears the publicity of the international fair of Frankfurt that would evolve from 1 to March 5, 1959. The seal is 20 (assume that Pfenning, Pfenning 100 were Deutsche Mark) appears with an effigy of the German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (no confirmation).

The postcard is advertising the hotel so it probably was not bought but received at the hotel. In the shop, which is shown in the photograph in the foreground offices observed the airline KLM. In the street there were numerous cars of the time, in the foreground the classic Volkswagen Beetle.
