Colección de tres tarjetas postales que tienen en común el hecho de haber sido utilizadas y enviadas por la misma persona, un estudiante de medicina, y dirigidas a su novia Gloria, la primera está fechada en 1915, la segunda en 1916 y la tercera en 1917.
Las tres tarjetas postales son fototipias. La fototipia fue el procedimiento para reproducir clisés fotográficos con la ayuda de una capa de gelatina extendida sobre una lámina de cristal o cobre. Sobre esa lámina se extendía una capa de emulsión fotosensible de gelatina bicromatada, se cocía durante varias horas y después por contacto con el negativo fotográfico se impresionaba esa emulsión, la gelatina es más insoluble en las partes transparentes por lo que la tinta se absorbía con mayor facilidad en esas zonas, no se podían realizar más de quinientas copias por ir deteriorándose la gelatina en el proceso. También recibe el nombre de fototipia al arte de estampar esas reproducciones y también se denomina así a la lámina estampada por este procedimiento.
Como hemos dicho, tenemos tres fototipias, la 1ª es la número 856 de la colección que editó Hauser y Menet en Madrid (llegó hasta la nº 2078) y representa la Plaza de la Constitución de Cádiz (actual Plaza de San Antonio) con unas dimensiones de 140 x 90 mm (medida legal establecida en la época para las tarjetas postales), en ella se aprecia en la parte izquierda la iglesia de San Antonio y a la derecha parte de la plaza donde se observan dos de las típicas torres vigías de Cádiz. La imagen está impresa a una tinta, negra.
La 3ª es una reedición de la 1ª a la que se ha alterado la leyenda que aparece encima de la fotografía, se ha suprimido “856 Hauser y Menet. – Madrid” que aparecía en la primera, si se conserva “CÁDIZ PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN” y se ha alterado también todo el cielo dejándolo sin nubes y en blanco. Dimensión del ejemplar 138 x 87 mm.
La 2ª fototipia representa el Gran Teatro de Cádiz (actual Gran Teatro Falla) cuyas obras habían finalizado en 1905 y que se encuentra junto a la Facultad de Medicina, aunque no se ve en la imagen, pero que era el lugar de estudio del propietario de estas tarjetas postales. Dibujó encima de la tarjeta postal unas cruces para indicar el camino que realizaba para llegar a dicha facultad. Esta segunda fototipia no corresponde a la amplia colección de Hauser y Menet sino que la edición es de Knackstedt y Näther de Hamburgo (Alemania) y la dimensión de este ejemplar es de 137 x 87 mm.
El reverso es similar en las tres, está dividido en dos partes como se había regulado a partir de diciembre de 1905 y en la 1ª y 2ª aparece la leyenda TARJETA POSTAL, con líneas de puntos se señala el lugar para escribir la dirección, aunque en las tres ha sido utilizado todo el espacio para escribir, por lo que se deduce no se enviaron franqueadas sino dentro de un sobre.
Aunque son ejemplares muy interesantes, lo que más nos ha llamado la atención es la historia de amor o desamor que cuenta a través de los textos escritos en color sepia a pluma, en el periodo de tres años entre este estudiante de medicina en Cádiz y su novia Gloria de la que desconocemos más datos. También son de destacar algunas expresiones que ya son arcaicas y en desuso. A continuación transcribimos los escritos de estas tres tarjetas postales:
1ª:
“Cádiz 24 Noviembre 1915.
Inolvidable Gloria: Voy a responder a tu grata de ayer que he recibido ahora a las 10½. Parece ser que yo no hago más que ofenderte en mis cartas según se desprende de los primeros párrafos de la tuya y la verdad no es esa mi intención; más como tú entiendeslo así te ruego me dispenses y te repito una vez más que no abrigo esos malos propósitos que me atribuyes. Suplícote, pues me dispenses, pues mal puede ofenderte quien tiene por todas contigo grandes ilusiones.
Iré a esa para estarme los 6 ó 7 días de que te hablé. Espero salir para ahí el día 26 y llegaré por tanto de 6 a 7 (si es que no vamos con retraso) en la tarde. Si llego a tal hora cenaré y después de asearme (ya sabes tú que se llega tiznado y sucio del tren) iré a tu casa tan pronto termine para estar a tu lado hasta las 10½ ó las 11.”
2ª:
“Cádiz, 17 mayo 1916.
Inolvidable Gloria: Sin ninguna tuya a que referirme. El día 14 te envié carta que ya supongo en tu poder. La presente es para hacerte ver una vez más lo mucho que te quiero y lo que siempre me acuerdo de ti. Hoy, por ser fiesta no he tenido clases; me quedan no más que dos para dar fin a estas pesadas tareas. Creo que para el 25 habré terminado y de ser así espero salir para esa el 27. Te avisaré por teléfono. En esta postal verás por las crucecitas el camino que a diario recorro para ir a la facultad. En el fondo y a la derecha.
Espero tus noticias pues el que yo no te pueda escribir creo que no será obstáculo para que tú lo hagas.

Inolvidable Gloria: Sin ninguna tuya a que referirme cojo la pluma para hacerte saber una vez más que, a pesar de tu olvido, te sigo queriendo y sigo sin olvidarte ni un solo momento. A la tuya del 28 del pasado respondí el día 1º de este mes; y a tu otra del 30 contesté el día 2.
De modo, pues, vuelvo a repetir, que no tengo carta tuya a que responder y por lo mismo me veo obligado a ser breve.
Ayer te envié un periódico de ésta con la reseña del banquete de que te hablaba en mi carta del día 2. Verás mi nombre entre los asistentes. Se sacaron fotografías y yo he salido bastante bien.”
