88.- Cádiz - Ayuntamiento - Plaza de Isabel II - Cadiz - City Concil - Elizabeth II Square

Extraordinaria tarjeta postal editada entre 1897 y 1900 por Pablo Dümmatzen con domicilio en Málaga y Hamburgo. Tiene unas dimensiones de 140 x 90 mm que era el estandar de la época, la parte anterior cuenta con un dibujo a color litografiado de la plaza de Isabel II (actual plaza de San Juan de Dios) de Cádiz donde se aprecia el ayuntamiento, diversas casas y las torres de la catedral, además de la propia plaza donde hay cinco farolas, numerosas personas, un coche de caballos y un burro.

También en la parte anterior aparecen las siguientes leyendas impresas:

Parte Inferior: CADIZ

Esquina inferior izquierda: N91671 (suponemos que es un número de orden asignado por el editor)

La parte posterior tiene la leyenda impresa de

En  este lado se escribe solamente la dirección.

Está indicado el lugar para el sello y tres renglones para poner la dirección. Las postales empezaron a dividirse en dos partes en el reverso a partir de diciembre de 1905, por lo que ésta es anterior. Esto obligaba a escribir el mensaje encima del dibujo o fotografía de la parte anterior. En este ejemplar no aparece ningún texto manuscrito. No está circulada.

Lo curioso de esta tarjeta postal es lo referente a la frase que aparece en la parte superior derecha del anverso: "MIRESE AL TRANSPARENTE", se trata de una colección de postales que editó en Málaga con dibujos que reproducen litográficamente distintas ciudades con transparencias a la luz, en este caso si la tarjeta postal se ve de forma ordinaria se aprecia la plaza del ayuntamiento de Cádiz de día, pero si se observa con una fuerte luz detrás, podremos apreciar la misma escena de la plaza pero nocturna, donde se ven las luces de las ventanas y balcones, la luna, la luz de las farolas o los círculos de luz que se forman debajo de ellos. Las dos fotografías primeras corresponden a estas situaciones de luz, siendo la misma postal.

D. Pablo Dümmatzen, alemán de origen, se debió instalar primero en Málaga (donde edita estas postales) manteniendo casa o negocio en Hamburgo ya que figuran las dos ciudades en la tarjeta, en 1903 encontramos un anuncio por palabras en el periódico ABC que dice "250 postales todas surtidas artísticas en platino, etc., 15 pesetas. Novedad, marcos de nogal para tarjetas finas, 4,50 pesetas media docena, franco certificado. Dümmatzen, Barcelona, Asalto, 7." por lo que en esa fecha ya tenía su domicilio en Barcelona.

Volvemos a encontrar un anuncio en el periódico La Vanguardia de Barcelona del 8 de diciembre de 1912 que dice "Postales p. mayor. Dümmatzen.P.ª Tetuán, 4" por lo que seguía en Barcelona aunque había cambiado de domicilio.

También en La Vanguardia del 23 de diciembre de1921 encontramos una referencia a D. Pablo Dümmatzen, que como miembro de la colonia alemana de Barcelona, "dona 100 pesetas a favor de los heróicos soldados españoles que luchan en África".

Seguimos encontrando anuncios de este editor ofreciendo Christmas o estampas de 1ª comunicón a lo largo de los años 40, 50 y 60del siglo XX en el mismo domicilio de Barcelona.

Y finalmente hemos encontrado la necrológica del 7 de octubre de 1971, también en La Vanguardia que dice:

"Don Pablo Dümmatzen Mühlbach viudo de Emma Dümmatzen Hauke, ha fallecido a los 93 años da edad, habiendo recibido los Santos Sacramentos y la Bendición Apostolica, (E. P. D.) -Sus afligidos: sobrinos (presentes y ausentes) y demás familia (ausente), al participar a sus amigos y conocidos tan dolorosa perdida, les suplican un recuerdo en sus oraciones y se sirvan asistir al acto del entierro, que tendrá lugar hoy, día 7, a las 10.30, en la Iglesia parroquial de San Oligario (calle Nápoles, núm. 133), donde al mismo tiempo se celebrará una misa de cuerpo presente, y después acompañar el cadáver al cementerio del Sudoeste. -No se invita particularmente."

Por tanto había nacido en 1878 y cuando editó estas tarjetas postales en Málaga contaba con sólo 20 ó 22 años.
