Dos tarjetas postales de 136 x 87 mm, con los bordes dentados, editadas en papel fotográfico en blanco y negro "de brillo" (se les llamaba así por tener la superficie brillante) correspondientes a EDICIONES ARRIBAS de Zaragoza que publicó de toda España a partir de la Guerra Civil española.
De estas dos tarjetas, la correspondiente a Oviedo está franqueada con un sello con la efifge de Francisco Franco, jefe del estado español en ese momento, de 50 céntimos matasellado el 12 de agosto de 1958 en Oviedo y dirigida a la señorita Carmen de Málaga.
En el anverso de ésta aparecen cuatro fotografías formando un mosaico que ocupan toda la superficie, con una cartela en medio donde pone "Oviedo", las cuatro fotografías corresponden a: Avda. de José Antonio, Calle del Marqués de Santa Cruz, Paisaje Asturiano y Plaza de Porlier.
El texto del reverso es el siguiente: "Oviedo 12 Agosto 1958. Querida Carmen: esta mañana martes salimos para Pontevedra, Torrelavega y Santander, ayer nos llovió un poquito en el camino y hace un fresco agradable, en la playa de Gijón que es preciosa y tiene mucha fama había miles de bañistas pero la verdad no apetece el baño porque el sol no calienta como en esa, ahora las playas son de una arena blanca y finísima y no tienen ni una china, el viaje lo hacemos muy bien, cada uno se costea lo suyo, ya tengo ganas de llegar, todo cansa. Del texto sacamos varias conclusiones, son dos viajeros por el norte de España (porque dice que cada uno se paga lo suyo), la persona que escribe dirige esta postal a Málaga por lo que es probable que ella también viviese en esa ciudad y describe lo que le llama la atención como la finura y color de la arena de la playa de Gijón comparándola con la que conoce de Málaga de color oscuro y con piedras de distintos tamaños, habla de la temperatura agradable (es agosto) que no incita a bañarase cuando en Málaga sucedería otra cosa bien distinta. No podemos deducir muchos más datos pero al analizar la segunda postal nos completará mucho la información de la primera.
En cuanto a la segunda fotopostal podemos decir que es de la misma EDICIONES ARRIBAS de Zaragoza y del mismo tipo "de brillo", en su anverso aparecen 5 imágenes, cuatro en las esquinas (Cueva de Nuestra Señora, Capilla de la Virgen, Vista del Santuario y La Catedral) y un óvalo en medio con la imagen de Nuestra Señora de Covadonda, debajo hay una cartela que pone "Covadonga", estas imágenes ocupan todo el espacio.
El reverso es igual al de la otra tarjeta descrita, no está franqueada ya que por lo que se deduce de lo escrito fue acompañada de una carta con el resto del texto y por tanto se debió de meter en un sobre (carta y tarjeta postal), el texto escrito es el siguiente:
"Unquera 12 Agosto 1958. Querida Carmen: despues de visitar la gruta de la Virgen de Covadonga, camino de Santander, tuvimos la mala suerte que a Luis le diera la célebre jaqueca con vómitos, dolor de cabeza, etc. y no pudiendo continuar más tiempo en ese estado, me decía Pepe, por Dios vamos a parar en este hostal porque creo que no llego a Santander, yo me voy a morir, así es que por casualidad había una habitación, se acostó, esto ocurría sobre las 6 de la tarde, te estoy escribiendo ahora que son las 8 y continua acostado, ya veremos lo que dura esto, a mi me da la impresión que nos vamos a tener que quedar a dormir aquí, y efectivamente, son las 10 de la noche y hasta la presenta no ha despertado y por fin decidimos quedarnos aquí. Al analizar este segundo texto ampliamos la información de una forma considerable, en primer lugar, van viajando de Asturias para Santander y paran, por encontrarse Luis mal, en el pueblo de Unquera (Cantabria) donde harán noche. Viajan Luis y Pepe, parecen dos amigos y deben de ir con coche propio. Habla de la comida típica de Asturias, de la que no debía de haber oido hablar antes ya que se confunde en el nombre y la compara con un potaje más de los populares en su tierra. Pepe, que es el que escribe ceceaba o seseaba ya que confunde estas letras en diversas palabras y escribe bastante, ésta es la segunda postal en el mismo día y la completará con una carta anexa por lo que llegamos a la conclusión de que las envía a su novia Carmen (el trato es cercano pero no el de un marido).
¿Qué habrá sido de nuestros protagonistas? Aquí nos quedamos con esta instantánea que nos muestra a un viajero en pleno verano de 1958 narrando su experiencia y deseosa de regresar a su ciudad.
